Effective date: October 6, 2026
At The Renter’s Home (therentershome.com), your privacy matters to us. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit this website, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using this site, you agree to the practices described here.
Information we collect
Information you give us directly. If you subscribe to our email list, download a printable, use our contact form or leave a comment, we collect the information you provide — such as your name and email address — and the content of your message or comment.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we collect standard log data when you visit: your IP address, browser type, device, pages visited, time spent and referring pages. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies (see below) and through Google Analytics.
Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We use cookies to: make the site work properly; understand how visitors use the site (analytics); remember your preferences; and support advertising (see Advertising). You can disable cookies in your browser settings at any time; parts of the site may then work less well. Where required by law, we ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies, via our cookie notice banner.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand which posts and printables are useful to readers. Google Analytics collects information such as pages visited, time on page, approximate location (country/city level) and device type, and uses cookies to distinguish visitors. This data is aggregated and we do not use it to identify you personally. You can opt out using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Advertising — Mediavine / Journey by Mediavine
This site may display advertising served by Mediavine, including its Journey by Mediavine programme. Mediavine and its advertising partners may use cookies, web beacons and similar technologies to collect information about your visits to this and other websites in order to provide advertisements about goods and services of interest to you, and to measure advertising performance.
You can opt out of interest-based advertising through industry tools such as the Digital Advertising Alliance (optout.aboutads.info) and, in Europe, Your Online Choices (youronlinechoices.eu).
Affiliate links
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. See our Affiliate Disclosure page for details. Affiliate partners may use cookies to track referrals for up to the period set by each programme.
Email list
If you subscribe, we use your email address to send the free printable or checklist you requested, and our newsletter (approximately one email per week) with new posts and small-space ideas. Our email service provider stores your address and records opens/clicks so we can improve content. We never sell your email address. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also email us at hello@therentershome.com to be removed.
Comments
If you leave a comment, we collect the data shown in the comment form, your IP address and browser user agent string to help detect spam. An anonymised string from your email address may be provided to the Gravatar service to show your profile picture next to your comment.
Embedded content from other websites
Posts on this site may include embedded content (for example, Pinterest pins, videos or images). Embedded content behaves exactly as if you had visited the other website, which may collect data about you and use its own cookies.
How long we keep your data
Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely so follow-up comments can be recognised. Analytics data is retained according to our Google Analytics settings (currently 14 months). Email subscribers’ data is kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. Contact-form messages are kept only as long as needed to respond and keep simple records.
Your rights (GDPR / UK GDPR)
If you are in the UK or European Economic Area, you have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict its processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@therentershome.com and we will respond within 30 days.
California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)
California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request its deletion, and to opt out of its “sale” or “sharing”. We do not sell personal information in the ordinary sense; advertising cookies may be considered sharing under California law, and you can opt out via our cookie settings and the industry tools linked above. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
Children’s privacy
This site is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version will always be posted on this page with its effective date.
